Your Weekend Planner to Ice Skating at the Central Park Plaza Ice Rink in Valparaiso

Weekend Planner

Get some fresh air and burn off some of those holiday treats we have already started indulging in with ice skating! Did you know that Valparaiso, Indiana has a beautiful open-air pavilion with a towering arched roof that is transformed into an ice rink during the winter? If you have not visited the Central Park Plaza ice rink, we highly recommend that you let the South Shore Line and the City of Valparaiso South Shore Connect take you there!

Getting to the ice rink is as easy as taking the South Shore Line to the Dune Park station in Chesterton, IN. From there, you can take the Transit Express bus to the 260 Brown station. To see the full bus schedule, please visit www.ci.valparaiso.in.us/1657/Schedule.

General admission is $5 per person and does not include skate rental. There is a group rate for 10 people, which does include skate rental, but please note that a 24-hour notice is required. The group rate is $7 per person.

Skate rental is on a first-come, first-serve basis, but you are welcome to bring your own if you have them. There are also skate aids, lockers, and helmet rentals available. An ID is required to be placed on hold while you rent these items.

When you are done gliding around the ice, you have likely worked up an appetite. We suggest heading over to The Rolling Stonebaker for some pizza. They can be found just northeast of the ice rink, and they have an assortment of appetizers and salads in addition to their amazing pizzas. They even have vegan items on the menu! If you are unsure of which pizza to try, we suggest the Potato Head.
