YOUR SSL WEEKEND PLANNER FOR SEPTEMBER 1ST

We’ve got your Saturday planned this Labor Day weekend so sit back and enjoy!

Morning

Start your Saturday off with an easy ride to Chicago on the South Shore Line.  Board the 504 SSL train and ride to Millennium Station. Once you disembark the train, head to one of our favorite breakfast spots for a little food and coffee.

Exit the station and walk north across cross E Randolph Street, then cross Michigan Avenue walking east and Wildberry Pancakes & Cafe is on your left! (130 E Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60601) From Belgian waffles, panini & wraps to espresso and mocha beverages, they have all you could need to start your day off right with a little caffeine high and a spring in your step.

Ready to take on the day? First stop, The Chicago Jazz Festival in Millennium Park from 11am-3:45pm.  You will not want to miss it! This free 40th Annual festival showcases the greatest jazz artists from Chicago and around the world.

Afternoon

Once Jazz Fest is over, next stop: Michigan Avenue! Head North on Michigan Avenue and if you are in the mood for a snack, stop at Garrett Popcorn Shops on Michigan (151 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60601) and grab a bag of this Chicago goodness! We love the Chicago Mix and can’t get enough of its cheesy, caramel goodness.

Keep heading north on Michigan, cross the Chicago River, and you will find yourself in the Mag Mile. From pet boutiques, to home good stores, to sports apparel shops, and department stores, the magnificent mile has all you need. Shop from over 400 retailers, all within walking distance. https://www.themagnificentmile.com/shopping/

Night

Hungry after all the music and shopping? Get some Chicago deep dish pizza at Gino’s East (162 E Superior St, Chicago, IL 60611). Slowly baked pies made with their signature secret dough and fresh toppings are sure to leave with a full and happy belly!

There’s no better way to end the night and celebrate your Labor Day weekend than with fireworks! Navy Pier has fireworks for you and the family all summer Memorial Day through Labor Day(600 E Grand Ave, Chicago, IL 60611).

Walk 6 minutes to the Illinois & Rush bus stop and catch the (orange line) 65 Grand bus to Navy Pier for a smashing finish to your day in the city! Or if you feel like walking, its about a 20 minute stroll to the Pier.
