Passengers are advised that South Shore Line train service to/from South Bend will be impacted today, Dec. 5, due to a slow-moving South Shore freight derailment adjacent to SSL tracks near Carroll Ave. As crews work to resolve the situation, SSL trains will be unable to operate east of Carroll Ave. until power has been restored and the scene cleared.
Passengers will be bused between Carroll Ave. and the South Bend Airport, effective with EB Tr 9 today until further notice. There will be no service to/from Hudson Lake while busing is in effect. The following trains will be canceled today, Dec. 5: WB Tr 422 & Tr 424; and canceled tomorrow, Dec. 6: EB Tr 401.
This busing is in addition to ongoing busing between Dune Park and Gary Metro Center stations. Delays are possible, and we thank passengers for their patience.
