Your SSL Weekend Planner For May 19th

Brace yourselves because it’s about to be a great weekend! With nice weather in the forecast, Chicago awaits you.

Morning
Hop on the SSL and get your morning started off with ease as you sit back and enjoy the ride to Chicago! Riding train 502 and arrive at Millennium Station at 9:13 a.m.

Start your morning off with a delicious breakfast at Toni Patisserie & Cafe (http://www.tonipatisserie.com/), just a quick walk from Millennium. Open at 9am, you are sure to be awakened by their seasonal treat for the whole family to enjoy! With quiche, yogurt parfaits, baguette sandwiches, scones, and croissants, you will certainly find something you will love from their wide variety of yummy breakfast foods. And, don’t forget the coffee to make you bright eyed and bushy tailed for the day ahead.

Afternoon
Next, kickoff your summer the right way by attending the Chicago River Kickoff Celebration (https://www.facebook.com/events/228034031109479/ ). You can expect a five minute walk from your breakfast stop to the Kickoff Celebration where you will experience Chicago’s second waterfront during a preview of summer programming, including fireworks, tours, kayaking, great food, live music, and more! Open 7:30 a.m. – 9 p.m., you’ll enjoy the beautiful Chicago weather.

Spend the rest of your morning on a walking tour along the Riverwalk, or take a 90 minute boat cruise. For a full list of Saturday’s events, visit: https://www.chicagoriverwalk.us/2018seasoncelebration

Getting hungry again? Check out the Riverwalk concession program, and grab a bite to eat from one of the vendors providing innovative food and beverages.

We can only assume that you just thoroughly enjoyed the kickoff celebration and now need some R&R. Take a quick 12 minute walk or catch an Uber from the riverwalk to Navy Pier’s AMC theatre. Kick back and catch one of the new movies you have been wanting to see! (https://www.amctheatres.com/imax) You can even have your movie snacks delivered to your seat!

Night
When your movie ends, take a nice walk and stretch your legs by heading to dinner! Giordano’s is our go-to dinner destination. Known for their deep-dish pizza, you will leave with full bellies and happy hearts (130 E Randolph Street, Chicago IL). About a 25 minute walk from Navy Pier, Giordano’s will bring you a block away from catching your SSL train back home.

To finish the day off, you MUST get dessert. It just so happens that Stan’s Donuts and Coffee (198-160 Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60601), as well as Garrett Popcorn Shops (151 Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60601) are close to Millennium Station. You cannot go wrong with either choice! There is also, a Starbuck’s in Millennium Station that you can grab for the trip home.

Catch train 511 departing Millennium Station at 9:15 p.m., and have an enjoyable ride home from your fun-filled day in the city!
