2018 Holiday Service Advisory

Happy holidays from the South Shore Line! Experience the magic of the season at some of the most anticipated events along the South Shore Line from South Bend to Chicago.

As a reminder, weekend/holiday train schedules will be in effect on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Information regarding NHL Winter Classic extra train service to/from South Bend will be announced in the coming days.

Other holiday schedules and hours:

The following extra EB trains depart from Millennium Station, and will not serve Hudson Lake or South Bend.

  • Saturday, Dec. 15 – Extra train departing at 4:25 p.m. (Van Buren St. @ 4:28 p.m.), running non-stop to Hegewisch and making all local stops terminating in Michigan City.
  • Friday, Dec. 21 – Extra train departing at 2 p.m. (Van Buren St. @ 2:03 p.m.), running non-stop to Hegewisch and making all local stops terminating in Michigan City.
  • Monday, Dec. 31 – Weekday schedule in effect with extra train departing at 2 p.m. (Van Buren St. @ 2:03 p.m.), running non-stop to Hegewisch and making all local stops terminating in Michigan City. Reminder: Dec. 31, alcohol is prohibited after 7pm; glass bottles are prohibited at all times.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 26 through Saturday, Dec. 29 – Up to three kids (13 years and younger) ride free with a paid adult on all trains during this period. This is in addition to the regular Family Fare schedule. *Reminder: The last car of all rush hour trains between Michigan City and Chicago is a Quiet Car.

Ticket Office Schedule:

If ticket office is closed please purchase from ticket vending machine (credit or debit only), our mobile app or onboard the train (cash only).

  • Monday/Tuesday, Dec. 24-25 and Dec. 31-Jan. 1 – All ticket offices will be closed except Millennium Station. NICTD administrative offices in Chesterton and Michigan City will be closed.
