Summer is here and the South Shore Line is expanding its Kids Ride Free program to include all trains June 29 – July 3, 2026. SSL has selected this promotional time frame to allow families to travel together during summer break in the four-county area.
The Kids Ride Free Program allows up to three children 13 years of age and under to ride free with a paying adult on off-peak and weekend trains. In an effort to help families enjoy summer, the program will be available on all weekday trains during this promotion June 29-July 3 (please note Friday, July 3, 2026, is a regular weekday train schedule). No ticket purchase is needed for kids riding free.
