To thank local educators for their hard work this school year, SSL is inviting teachers to ride the SSL for free December 22 – 29 on all weekday, weekend, and holiday trains. To ride, educators will need to present a valid school ID.
To accommodate passengers attending the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) taking place Dec. 10-12 at McCormick Place, the South Shore Line will be offering select weekday train stops at McCormick Place Station on Friday, Dec. 10, as well as an extra eastbound train the afternoon of Saturday, Dec. 11.
To accommodate passengers attending the Chicago Bears vs. Cardinals home game at noon on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021, the South Shore Line plans to stop select trains at Metra’s 18th Street Station, which connects passengers directly to the Soldier Field entrance via a pedestrian walkway.
As a reminder, passengers who purchased a November monthly ticket will receive a free December monthly credited to their app accounts prior to tomorrow, Dec. 1. In order to avoid any technical issues in utilizing the December ticket, passengers are advised to please move your December monthly app ticket to Device Storage prior to your first activation.

The season’s best events are returning in 2021, including the spectacular Magnificent Mile Lights Festival (Nov. 19-20), the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade (Nov. 25), and the traditional German Christkindlmarket in Daley Plaza (open Nov. 19-Dec. 24).
