In order to accommodate construction for the Double Track NWI project, the South Shore Line announces the temporary relocation of Miller Station, including the Miller parking lot and bus stop, effective Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022.
In partnership with Indiana Operation Lifesaver, the SSL will once again be participating in National Rail Safety Week, Sept. 19-23, 2022, in which our teams will continue to spread awareness of rail safety to the surrounding communities in which we operate. On Sept. 19 and 22, 2022, SSL representatives will be present at Millennium Station and September 21, 2022, at East Chicago throughout the morning commute, distributing educational materials about train and grade-crossing safety, answering any questions, and listening to commuters' safety concerns. The blitzes are part of our ongoing efforts to raise awareness of the importance of safe behavior around our trains and tracks.
To accommodate passengers attending Chicago Bears regular season home football games, the South Shore Line plans to stop select trains at Metra’s 18th Street Station, which connects passengers directly to the Soldier Field entrance via a pedestrian walkway. As 18th Street Station is not a regularly scheduled stop, SSL passengers utilizing 18th St. on these days should purchase tickets for Museum Campus/11th Street.
