Due to continued COVID-19 impacts on South Shore Line commuters, the SSL announces that it will again be offering a “Buy 1 Get 1 Free” promotion for January monthly tickets. All monthly tickets purchased for the month of January 2021 will remain valid throughout February.

Thanksgiving Week Service Update

Thanksgiving train service

  • Wednesday, Nov. 25: A weekday schedule will be in effect on the day before Thanksgiving.
  • Thursday, Nov. 26 (Thanksgiving Day): A weekend/holiday schedule will be in effect in observance of Thanksgiving Day.
  • Friday, Nov. 27 (Black Friday): A weekday schedule will be in effect on the Friday following Thanksgiving.

State of Indiana Executive Order Service Update

*UPDATE 2/1/21: In accordance with a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention federal order effective at 11:59pm ET on Feb. 1, 2021, the South Shore Line will continue to require masks or face coverings for all passengers and employees in stations and onboard our trains. Certain passengers with medical/health issues and children under the age of two (2) are exempt from the mask mandate. Passengers who do not comply with the mask mandate will be subject to removal from trains.

Reminder: Bikes on Trains season end

Passengers are advised that the South Shore Line’s Bikes on Trains program terminates for the season at the end of the day on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020. We look forward to resuming the Bikes on Trains program beginning April 1, 2021.
