The SSL introduces CUBS EXTRA train

The SSL will provide a CUBS EXTRA train departing Millennium Station 60 minutes following the conclusion of each schedule night game at Wrigley Field.  The CUBS EXTRA train will run nonstop to Hegewisch and make all local stops to Michigan City.

The CUBS EXTRA will not serve Hudson Lake or South Bend.

Getting to Wrigley Field from South Shore Line (Millennium Station):

  • Take the SSL to Millennium Station
  • Walk to CTA Red Line Lake Station.  (Head west on Randolph St. to State St., turn north on State and walk one block to entrance to station.
  • Take the Red Line to Addison stop.
  • Wrigley Field is 1/2 block from CTA.

Returning to the South Shore Line (Millennium Station) from Wrigley Field:

  • Immediately following the game, walk from Wrigley Field to the Red Line Addison stop.
  • Take the Red Line to CTA Lake
  • Walk to Millennium Station and get on the SSL train.

OPERATION LIFESAVER STATION SAFETY BLITZ DURING RAIL SAFETY WEEK

The South Shore Line passenger service Safety Committee, Operation Lifesaver and Transit Police from the South Shore, CN and IHB kicked-off National Rail Safety Week with a station blitz at Hammond Station and East Chicago Station. From September 11-17, the group promoted crossing safety education with the goal of changing public behavior near the rails and heighten awareness about the dangers associated with grade-crossing collisions and trespassing.
