The CSX is renewing their grade crossing on Hohman Ave. in Hammond immediately south of South Shore’s Hammond Station. The work will begin on November 12 and conclude on or before November 27. The CSX crossing will be closed to all traffic.
CHESTERTON, Ind. – The South Shore Line has scheduled additional personnel and all available train cars to provide as much capacity as possible for Friday’s World Series Parade and Rally honoring the Chicago Cubs first Championship in 108 years.
To show gratitude and to say thank you for their service, the South Shore Line (SSL) is inviting all Veterans to ride the train free of charge on November 11 through November 13.
Active military members and veterans are welcome to ride the SSL for free without showing identification. On Veterans Day (Nov. 11) trains will follow the regular weekday service hours.
Due to operating requirements beyond our control the South Shore must temporarily reduce the number of cars on WB Train 6 from 6 to 4 cars beginning October 19.
The South Shore’s bridge replacement work will impact several weekday trains beginning October 13, 2016. Please read the following bulletin for affected trains.
The SSL will provide a CUBS EXTRA train departing Millennium Station 90 minutes following the conclusion of each schedule World Series night game at Wrigley Field. The CUBS EXTRA train will run nonstop to Hegewisch and make all local stops to Michigan City.
The SSL will provide a CUBS EXTRA train departing Millennium Station 60 minutes following the conclusion of each schedule night game at Wrigley Field. The CUBS EXTRA train will run nonstop to Hegewisch and make all local stops to Michigan City.
The CUBS EXTRA will not serve Hudson Lake or South Bend.
Getting to Wrigley Field from South Shore Line (Millennium Station):
- Take the SSL to Millennium Station
- Walk to CTA Red Line Lake Station. (Head west on Randolph St. to State St., turn north on State and walk one block to entrance to station.
- Take the Red Line to Addison stop.
- Wrigley Field is 1/2 block from CTA.
Returning to the South Shore Line (Millennium Station) from Wrigley Field:
- Immediately following the game, walk from Wrigley Field to the Red Line Addison stop.
- Take the Red Line to CTA Lake
- Walk to Millennium Station and get on the SSL train.
