The following South Shore Line service updates will be in effect to accommodate passengers attending the Chicago Air & Water Show, taking place Saturday, Aug. 16, and Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025, at North Avenue Beach.
Alcohol is prohibited on all trains Aug. 16-17. Please remember glass bottles are prohibited at all times.
Westbound service, Aug. 16-17:
- A westbound Extra train will depart Carroll Ave. at 8:42 a.m., following Tr 504. It will make all local stops terminating at Millennium Station. The westbound Extra will not serve Hudson Lake or South Bend.
Eastbound service, Aug. 16-17:
- An eastbound Extra train will depart Millennium Station at 4:55 p.m. (Van Buren St. at 4:57 p.m.), run non-stop to Hegewisch and make all local stops terminating at Carroll Ave., Michigan City. The eastbound Extra will not serve Hudson Lake or South Bend.
As with all special events and festivals, passengers may encounter crowded conditions on trains and should anticipate an increased NICTD Transit Police presence during the event.
