Passengers are advised that the South Shore Line South Bend Airport Station will undergo a scheduled temporary power outage at 10 a.m. ET Wednesday, July 1, 2026, due to Airport construction. The power outage will impact the South Shore Line waiting area within the Airport, and will last approximately 4-6 hours.

As a result of the power outage, South Bend station announcements, digital displays, and Ticket Vending Machines will be temporarily out of service.

With Ticket Vending Machines temporarily unavailable at South Bend on July 1, alternative ticket purchasing methods include the following:

  1. South Shore Mobile App: Purchase tickets at any time via the South Shore mobile app, available for download on Android and iOS devices.
  2. Onboard the Train: Tickets can be purchased from the conductor while aboard the train (cash only).

Tickets are valid for use at any time before their expiration, and are not limited to specific dates or trains.

Passengers are reminded that the South Shore Line will continue to operate Lakeshore Corridor and Monon Corridor service on a WEEKEND/HOLIDAY train schedule. This temporary operational change is a result of a June 24 freight train derailment and subsequent power loss near East Chicago. Crews continue to work diligently at the scene, which originally resulted in temporary suspension of all South Shore Line train service on June 24. Train service resumed June 25 operating on a weekend/holiday train schedule and busing around the scene.

Any changes in service will be promptly posted to our website Service Updates, the South Shore mobile app, and via email/text notifications (click here to sign up).
