In order to accommodate construction for the Double Track NWI project, temporary substitute busing is in effect for all passengers at stations between Gary Metro Center and Dune Park. Train service between Gary Metro and Millennium and between Dune Park and South Bend Airport operates as normal.

The SSL’s successful completion in October 2023 of the first phase of the Double Track project allowed for the resumption of train service between Dune Park and Carroll Ave. stations, including the return of train service to/from Beverly Shores and 11th St. stations. Busing substitution will remain in effect between Gary Metro Center and Dune Park stations until the project’s completion in spring 2024.

Bus service will make all intermediate scheduled station stops, and passengers will be bused between the following stations on the current train schedule: Dune Park, Portage/Ogden Dunes, Miller (temporarily located at 6121 Melton Rd.), and Gary Metro Center.

Westbound passengers at those stations should be prepared to board buses in front of the station and re-board WB South Shore trains at Gary Metro. Eastbound passengers will detrain at Gary Metro to board buses for their destination stations, and/or board their scheduled EB trains again at Dune Park.

Passengers are advised delays are possible due to busing, and we appreciate your patience during this time of significant construction.
