SSL Board Approves Fare Increase Effective July 1, 2018

The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) board has approved the proposed fare increase and it will take effect on July 1, 2018 for the South Shore Line rail passenger service, including July monthly tickets. The new fares would apply to all stations but Hegewisch. Metra controls Hegewisch fares and approved an increase effective February 1, 2018.

At the SSL, we continuously strive to enhance our rider experience. The July 1, 2018 fare increase will enhance safety on the SSL through supporting implementation of Positive Train Control (PTC).

“This fare increase is being implemented to help financially support the critical PTC project that is currently underway, not only at our railroad, but at all railroads across the United States, ” said Michael Noland, President of the South Shore Line.

We appreciate your ridership and thank you for choosing the South Shore Line!
