The SSL will have 200 riders taking advantage of the Bikes on Trains program this weekend. They are participating in the 1st Annual Ride & Rail Tour! 

This ride will give participants the opportunity to ride the trails from Whiting to Chicago’s Buckingham Fountain. It all begins in Downtown Whiting where participants will ride bike paths to Millennium Park in Downtown Chicago. It is here where they will then board the SSL to ride to NWI and exit the train at Hammond Station. Then they will ride back on paths to Downtown Whiting, finishing the tour.

Lake County consultant, Tom Dabertin, said “This is the first-of-a-kind event in this area. All told, the ride is about 25 miles. Once back, riders will pick up their commemorative T-shirt and goodie bag that will include discount coupons to Whiting businesses and restaurants.”
