The South Shore Line plans to temporarily bus passengers between the South Bend International Airport and Gary Metro Center Station while we upgrade track between Michigan City and South Bend. This segment is in addition to ongoing long-term busing to stations between Carroll Ave. and Gary Metro.
The South Bend busing is scheduled to begin Monday, May 8, 2023, and last until Friday, May 19, 2023 (including the weekend of May 13-14).
· Bikes remain prohibited between South Bend and East Chicago stations.
· Service to Hudson Lake is suspended during busing 5/8-5/19.
· The following trains are canceled during busing 5/8-5/19:
o WB Tr 422, Tr 424 and EB Tr 401, Tr 403, Tr 701 & Tr 703.
Buses will arrive and depart with passengers to match our published train schedule between South Bend and Gary Metro.
Westbound passengers departing from South Bend will board buses located just north of the train platform at the South Bend International Airport. Passengers will disembark the bus at Gary Metro Center and board their regularly scheduled trains for the remainder of their westbound trips.
Eastbound passengers destined for South Bend will disembark their trains at Gary Metro Center, and board a bus for the remainder of their trips to South Bend.
Delays may be possible due to busing, and we appreciate passengers’ patience.
