The South Shore Line advises passengers that track construction at Hegewisch Station will continue to impact track availability as of Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
Beginning April 10, the Track 2 platform at Hegewisch will be closed for several weeks to accommodate the construction. For the duration of this closure, all trains will utilize the Track 1 platform.
During this time, track and signal components are being significantly upgraded in order to reconfigure train movement through the station. The project will enable train speed limits to be increased, shortening travel time for SSL trains.
Delays are possible due to the construction, and we appreciate passengers’ patience and cooperation.
