This weekend kicks off the holiday season along the South Shore Line! Experience the magic of the season at some of the most anticipated events like the spectacular Magnificent Mile Lights Festival Parade (Nov. 18), the annual Chicago Tree Lighting Ceremony (Nov. 17) and the traditional German Christkindlmarket in Daley Plaza (open Nov. 17-Dec. 24).

Holiday Train Schedule
- Wednesday, Nov. 22: A weekday schedule will be in effect on the day before Thanksgiving.
- Thursday, Nov. 23 (Thanksgiving Day): A weekend/holiday schedule will be in effect in observance of Thanksgiving Day.
- Friday, Nov. 24 (Black Friday): A weekday schedule will be in effect on the Friday following Thanksgiving.
Extra Eastbound Service
- Saturday, Nov. 18 (Magnificent Mile Lights Festival Parade): An eastbound Extra will depart Millennium Station at 8:30 p.m. (Van Buren St. at 8:33 p.m.), run non-stop to Hegewisch and make all local stops terminating at Gary Metro Center. The extra train will not serve stations east of Gary Metro. Please note passenger busing is ongoing between Gary Metro and Dune Park stations.
Ticket Office Schedule
If ticket office is closed, please purchase from ticket vending machine, South Shore mobile app, or onboard train (cash only).
- Nov. 20-22: All ticket offices will observe normal hours.
- Nov. 23: Carroll Ave. Ticket Office will be closed. Millennium Station Ticket Office hours: 11:35a-6:30p.
- Nov. 24: Carroll Ave. Ticket Office hours: 8:05a-4:45p. Millennium Station Ticket Office hours: 11:05a-6p.
NICTD administrative offices in Chesterton and Michigan City will be closed Nov. 23-24 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
